SST Polysilicon Engineering & Construction Event (PECE), June 14th and 15th 2012

On June 14th and 15th SST organized its first EPC-Event at Schmid Polysilicon Production (SPP) in Spreetal, Sachsen and Dresden.  Partnerships with major companies of the Engineering & Construction industry were confirmed and deepened, new contacts were launched.

The international guests visited the SPP plant, after which followed a series of presentations in the fields of Engineering, Construction and Polysilicon Projects.  Amongst others, there were presentations by Dr. Eberhardt of M+W Germany, Mr. Freiherr von Hutten (McDermott Will & Emery LLP), and Mr. Timothy Ash, McKinsey & Co., Sustainability and Resource Productivity (S&RP) Fellow. 

Dresdner Frauenkirche

The cultural part of the program started the next day with a sightseeing tour through the city of Dresden. The event ended with an insight into the engineering details of the difficult renovation work of the Dresdner Frauenkirche. After the tour through the church, the guests were transferred back to the airport, however, some of them used the opportunity to remain a little longer in the beautiful city for more sightseeing.   


Schmid & SST International Press Meeting (IPM), oCt. 22nd & 23rd 2012

SST organized an international press event (Schmid & SST International Press Meeting IPM) in Dresden on October 22nd and 23rd 2012. To cover all fields of interest, presentations featured not only polysilicon issues, but also integrated projects (Integrated Fab Solutions IFS) from polysilicon to solar module. Invited guests included journalists of solar specialist publications, such as PV Magazine and Sonne, Wind & Wärme.

Dr. Henning Wicht of IHS iSuppli contributed to our forum with insights on the latest polysilicon price development. Dr. Wicht is a renowned market analyst with a focus on photovoltaics, as well as polysilicon. Our fireside chat on Monday evening was lively with intense discussions on the current status of the solar industry in general and the polysilicon industry especially. The presentations and discussions on Tuesday allowed insights into the latest R&D and market developments and laid the foundation for intensive future cooperation. Our press event ended with a tour through Schmid Polysilicon Production SPP in Spreetal, Saxony.
