First Silicon Out
Milestone for Schmid Silicon Technology`s Next Generation of Polysilicon Production -
Today on June 12,2011 SST Announced First Silicon Out (FSO) at its Pilot Plant in Schwarze Pumpe, Saxony/Germany.
Schmid Silicon Technology received its first Polysilicon out of its Monosilane-based pilot line on June 12, 2011 – just 6 weeks after chemical startup of the plant.
After introducing first chemicals on April 30th, first Monosilane was produced within 3 weeks. Upon another 3 weeks of testing and adjustments, the first batch of Polysilicon was now successfully harvested on June 12th.
The startup itself went smoothly and the targeted capacity and energy consumption figures were achieved in the continuous production mode. Despite the fact that the first run was targeted to clean the system, the surface contamination values of the deposited silicon already met the “9N” material specification, plus the geometry and surface quality showed a uniform deposition. Bulk analyses will be carried out on Polysilicon from the next deposition runs.
After the first run operation was paused to drain and purge piping and perform a number of equipment checks. Currently the plant is back in operation.
